Il Tempio delle Clessidre - alieNatura (2013)

AlieNatura is Italian progressive rock at its best. Reading the biography of Il Tempio delle Clessidre you asume their music will be something between Museo Rosenbach and Banco Del Mutuo Soccorso, and yes you are quite right but that is not all, there is a lot more to be excited about this band.
An album about how humanity looses their bond with nature is a great concept, I really like finding albums such as alieNatura where the work that has been done is very serious, not only music wise but concept and lyric wise. The cover art is also pretty good.
Elisa Montaldo as a keyboardist, vocalist and founder of the band has been an interesting discovery to me, I do not know many progressive rock female leaders, I am not being sexist, its a fact when it comes to my collection and It made me search for more bands driven by a female musician.
Other reviewers already pointed that the job Francesco Ciapica (replacement for vocals) isn't the best but nonetheless is quite impressive, I think that if the band progresses into mixing Francesco and Elisa vocal sections with more parity the result will be more than satisfactory. I have listened to "Il Centro Sottile" and I enjoyed alieNatura a lot more and even after reading specialists and collaborators reviews I still think that alieNatura is better.
Guitars and drums sounds VERY 70's but what is great about this is that keyboards on the other hand sounds modern; mastering nowadays permits electronic sounds to blend a lot better with guitars than it used to be in the past so I am happy to be able to grasp a sound from the past "updated" to 2014!

El tan esperado álbum "Tale of Dreams" del compositor Ronald Van Deurzen es un viaje orquestal que explora la música celta y melodías medievales. Es una combinación de música etérea y armónica que los llevará a un mundo de maravillas, valientes caballeros, bosques mágicos y peligros inesperados.
"Tales of Dreams" es un álbum que consiste en la unión de una banda sonora de juegos, películas y proyectos en los que trabajó el compositor en Escandinavia. El álbum también cuenta con composiciones inéditas con el fin de profundizar este cuento musical mágico de elfos, caballeros y dragones. Inspirándose en la naturaleza nórdica y la historia, Van Deurzen ha logrado combinar a la perfección sus influencias New Age como pianista contemporáneo con su admiración cada vez mayor de instrumentos pertenecientes al género World-Music.
En "Tale of Dreams" escucharás violines, oboes encantadores, clarinetes y flautas acompañados de arpas míticas, piano s atmosféricos y instrumentos de viento con aspectos heroicos que puede dar lugar a acumulaciones orquestales épicas o texturas musicales siniestras, en cuyo caso se utiliza instrumentación menos tradicionales como el címbalo, duduk armenio, Canto Gregoriano y electro-acústica abstracto y sonido escultural.
Si bien este disco es más orquestal y tradicional que el trabajo anterior de Van Deurzen "Immaginations", principalmente basado en piano, éste álbum garantiza la inspiración para amantes de banda sonoras orquestales y sirven como telón de fondo para los juegos o el uso de licencias de cine y de Televisión.

Overground Music got in my hands accidentally 6 years ago when I was looking for an album from ELP (Emerson Lake And Palmer) called “Brain Salad Surgery” I paid ELP's album in advance and never saw the cover so when I went to the store to get the album the guy wasn’t there and his brother that was replacing him had no idea who ELP was, he grabbed an album that had a “A la Keith Emerson” postick and he gave it to me thinking it was Brain Salad. I argued with the guy that the CD wasn’t from ELP since they were obviously not from Hungary and at the time I didn’t even know that Hungarians made progressive music (I was 17 years old). Since my disc wasn’t there I asked if he could play some of the music from this “A la keith emerson” Hungarian album…the music hypnotized me, I then decided to buy this album. I got home and inserted the disc on the music system and was amazed when I heard “Confess your beauty” solo, the vocals sounded weird at the beginning though, and it’s the only thing that took some time for me to get into.
REVIEW:
Overground Music is a very special piece of art indeed, is has been one of the closest music I have heard that reminds me of a metaphor used by painters to describe when this sort of invaluable art are brought to this world. This album certainly has been done like if their creators “grabbed the pencil in the middle” to me (the metaphor means that the balance between the subconscious feeling and the technique will reveal its true meaning on expression).
After Crying just did an incredible unbelievable virtuous album but at the same time with the passion that it needed to be colored.
This record opened unconsciously the path for me through arts, and somehow awakened a part of me that gave me the chance to understand and discover the art of playing the piano from inside-out.
Confess Your Beauty instrumental section is a masterpiece that has transcended the idea of a solo section in a song for me... behind the inspiration for that section is were relies the mysterious ingenious and intellect of men...some fantastic achievements like this one gives a certain meaning to our existence.
Listening to this album when I was a kid was when the journey really began. It might work as well for others and I hope it does. Many records have awakened the “ears of my ears”, and the “eyes of my eyes”; but this was the first one that helped that to happen. I really believe that albums like this one teaches us the most valuable things in life.
